This page outlines the probation tasks and expectations at Qxf2. All new hires at Qxf2 undergo a rigorous probationary period that lasts 6 months. New hires that cannot complete the tasks satisfactorily will not be made permanent. Candidates interested in interviewing with us are expected to read this page carefully since there are a number of non-standard expectations. As you read through this page, please ask yourself if you can meet these expectations. If you are not in a position to meet these expectations, then Qxf2 is going to be the wrong fit for you.
New hires go through a 6-8 week training period that introduces several new testing tools and testing approaches. Not only do new hires have to complete the tasks assigned to them in a timely fashion, they also have to demonstrate that they have picked up the right habits that were highlighted during their orientation.
The Qxf2 work week is 45 hours spread out evenly over 5 business days. New hires should keep consistent timings through the week. When a new hire is on a client, they should provide one hour of overlap per day with the client. The one hour overlap is expected to include the client's daily standup. The new hire can choose when to work the remaining 8 hours of the day but they need to keep the timing consistent.
Existing Qxf2 employees will suggest at least one tool for new hires to explore. The new hires are expected to explore the tool, apply it to a real scenario and write a hands on tutorial about the tool. The employees that picked the tool will rate the quality of your work and updates. To clear this task, new hires must score a good rating from the existing employees on this task.
Qxf2 produces a lot of training material for QA engineers. New hires (with at least two years of QA experience at the time of joining Qxf2) will be asked to create training material on a topic of our choice. The exercises and tickets created will be evaluated by existing Qxf2 employees. To clear this task, the training material created by the new hire should be rated as satisfactory or better.
We have started to conduct seminars and workshops at Bangalore colleges. All new hires are expected to contribute to this initiative. The date, venue and time of the workshop will be set by the college. New hires are expected to be at the venue in person and conduct the workshop. The rating received from the student feedback will be used to determine if this task was completed satisfactorily. Note: The workshop date could fall on a weekend. So there will be one day in your first six months that you are expected to work on the weekend as well.
Our client locations vary from Australia to the USA. We test the new hire's readiness to work on a client by making them work in the client timezone for a week. Week 5 after joining Qxf2, new hires are expected to work US timings i.e., morning timings up to the new hire but evening timings are 18:00-21:30 with one hour dinner break. Week 6 after joining Qxf2, new hires are expected to work Australia timings i.e., morning timings are set at 9:30-12:30 and the evening timings are up to the new hire.
We hire QAs with varied background. All our hires have something to contribute back to Qxf2's knowledge base. To reinforce this, new hires with more than 2-years of experience are expected to share high-level domain knowledge that they picked up during their career with existing Qxf2 employees. To clear this task, new hires must receive a satisfactory (or above) rating from existing Qxf2 employees.
Qxf2 engineers are expected to work on increasing their exposure to technical ideas along with expanding their network. To that end, new hires are expected to have attended at least two meetups in their first 6-months with Qxf2. The meetups can be on any topic as long as they are related to technology.
We like hearing about new things that are happening within the industry. To that end, new hires are expected to attend one technical conference within 6-months of joining Qxf2. The new hire has to attend the conference and produce a good write up on the different sessions they attended. To clear this task, the notes produced by the new hire should be rated as satisfactory (or better) by the Qxf2 employee evaluating the work.
